The Alcorn State University (ASU) Braves (6-12) pushed for more victories as they entered the game riding a one game win streak facing the Golden Lions of the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff (UAPB) (6-12). Tip-off began on Monday, January 21st at 7:30 pm in the Davey L. Whitney Complex as the Braves looked forward to putting on a show for their home crowd.

ASU began the game with much energy and vigor. They acquired the lead early as they outscored the Golden Lions 41-30. Usually beginning their games slowly, the Braves knew tonight would be something special. On the other hand, UAPB weren’t anything to be taken lightly as they came back rejuvenated after the half. Outscoring the Braves by 6 points, the Lions led the second half scoring 39 to 33. Fortunately for the Braves, the Golden Lion’s second half performance wasn’t enough to edge them out as they defeated UAPB 74-69.

Guard, Troymain Crosby put on an impeccable performance as he led the Braves with an astonishing 20 points and 8 rebounds. Trailing behind him was Guard, Maurice Howard, adding 16 points and 3 rebounds for the win. Forward, Reginal Johnson, also aided in the Braves’ victory with 13 points.

ASU will be on the road looking forward to continuing their winning streak against Alabama State in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday, January 26th at 5:00 pm.
