Should Television Be Censored?

Television censorship is the prohibition of “indecent” material (profanity, sexual content, etc.) between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. This is usually when television is primarily watched by people. Usually television shows separate fantasy from reality.

Many people may just watch for entertainment or to relieve themselves of any stress or other issues they may be going through, even if it’s just for a brief period of time. However nowadays, programs shown on television don’t really separate fantasy from reality anymore.

In my opinion, television should not be censored because it is an option to watch.  Also there is no point in censoring television if people are going to be exposed to explicit actions anyway. It really is the decision of the person and how one chooses to let it affect them. Everyone may not feel the same way about the situation or topic, therefore people should be able to make their own conscious decisions.

Today, TV is a source of entertainment to people of all age groups. It has become an integral part of homes and it’s hard to imagine life without it. Now it is arguable that television should be censored for children because they are more likely to mimic things they see some of which may be deemed unacceptable behavior. If the parents raise their child in a respectable manner, then television should not have to be censored at all.
