Summer Marjani Walker, better known as “Summer Walker,” born April 11, 1996, is a R&B singer and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Before becoming a highlighted R&B artist, Walker had her own cleaning business. She is a multi-talented artist who also has the capability to play the piano, guitar, and other instruments. She is currently signed under the LoveRenaissance and Interscope Record Labels.

In interviews, she talks about how artists such as Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu have influenced her musical taste and sound. She is fairly new to the music industry, but really became the topic of conversation early in 2018 with her song “Session 32”. This song alone received over 1.5 million views on Sound Cloud. From there, she quickly stepped into the main light.

After her song “Session 32” received huge buzz, Walker went on to create her first mixtape entitled, ‘Last Day of Summer’ on October 19, 2018. This mixtape includes one of her most known songs, “Girls Need Love”. This song is a hit and one reason is because of the message the song includes. She makes women feel comfortable enough to do something that society tells them they can’t simply because they are a woman. She has influenced changes in societal standards for women with this one song.

Following her release of ‘Last Day of Summer’, Walker released her first EP entitled, ‘CLEAR’ on January 25, 2019 upon which she received great feedback from. On February 27, 2019 she released a remix to her song “Girls Need Love” featuring Drake.

Walker released her first official album entitled “Over It”, on September 12, 2019. This album featured many established artists such as 6lack, Bryson Tiller, Usher, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Drake and Jhene Aiko. This album made it to number one on Apple’s R&B charts during the first week of its release.

Walker is currently dating popular and well known recording producer, London on da Track. A fun fact about these two’s relationship is that he actually helped produce a majority of her latest album. The two of them recently called it quits earlier this month, but rekindled their relationship days after.
