The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) will hold its 2019 Softball Championship at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex in Montgomery, Alabama beginning on Wednesday, May 8th through Sunday, May 12th.
The prices for the events will be Adults -$5 daily, Tournament Pass – $15, Children/Students -$3 daily (All students must have a valid University ID if they are to receive student pricing), and Children/Student Tournament Pass – $10.
To qualify for the Tournament, the SWAC takes the top four finishers from the Eastern and Western Divisions and the team with the highest win/loss percentage during conference play receives the number one seed.
The teams from the Eastern Division who qualified this year are Alabama A&M (11-7, 22-17), Alabama State (10-7, 20-22), Alcorn State (9-9, 13-22), and Jackson State (7-11, 12-34). The teams from the Western Division who qualified this year are Texas Southern (16-1, 20-24), Prairie View A&M (15-3, 27-15), Southern (6-11, 8-25), and UAPB (3-12, 4-32). The number one seed from each Division will be Alabama A&M (East) and Texas Southern (West).
The first round gets kicked off on Wednesday, May 8th when (East) #2 Alabama State takes on (West) #3 Southern at 9:00 am. At 12:00 pm (West) # 2 Prairie View takes on (East) # 3 Alcorn. Then at 3:00 pm (West) # 1 Texas Southern battles (East) #4 Jackson State and finally at 6:00 pm (East) #1 Alabama A&M versus #4 UAPB.
The Tournament’s games will be carried on the SWAC Digital Network.
