On April 24, 2018, Aerial C. Robinson was crowned Alcorn State University’s Miss Mass Communications for the 2018-2019 academic term. Robinson, a Junior Mass Communications major, is the daughter of Darryl and Tracey Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia.

As a master of videoing and editing, she is a Youtuber who does advice videos that deal with a variety of topics like surviving high school and college and natural hair tutorials for short to medium length hair on her channel, “Nothing but Aer.” When she’s not showing the natural sisters how to slay their hair, she is honing her communication skills as a member of Alcorn’s student run online newspaper, The Campus Chronicle, the Mass Communications Department’s newscast team, ASU TV-13, and the Mass Communications Club.

Robinson says her biggest reward gained from her newfound title is that she will be able to shine a light on the innovativeness, creativity and expertise that the students and faculty possess.

“Since I first stepped foot on Alcorn’s campus, this Department has welcomed me with open arms and immediately treated me like family. The students and staff have a bond like no other and are all motivated to help one another reach their goals. One of my main goals is to introduce this type of connection with the rest of the campus and get them to see that sometimes big things really do come in small packages,” stated Robinson.

She eloquently expressed her gratitude of being elected Miss Mass Communications by stating how much joy and vitality she has amassed since capturing the title.

Robinson states, “I am extremely grateful to my peers for entrusting me with the wonderful opportunity to lead this Department in various ways geared towards success. I hope to create and develop new connections with individuals new and old and will further enforce the family bond that comes with being in this Department. I also plan to reach out to the entire campus so that they to may be involved and are able to witness all of the hard work done by the students and faculty.”

She boldly declares, “This Department shall no longer go unnoticed.”
