The Way

The way you look at me.

The way you send me Good morning texts with the cute emojis.

The way you listen to me when I talk about my problems.

The way you tell your friends bye when you see my name pop up on your phone.

The way you curve girls when they throw themselves at you.

The way you respect your mother.

The way you open doors for me.

The way you wipe away the tears from my face.

The way you let me be right even when I’m wrong.

The way you can be yourself when you’re around me.

The way you surprise me with gifts.

The way you noticed me when no one else did.

Wait, something doesn’t feel right, I feel like I’m dreaming.

When I opened my eyes and saw you lying next to me.

The way you got up out the bed and left without saying a word.

So tell me, twenty years later, am I dreaming?
