This week in entertainment news, Lil Wayne is forced to pay a Pyrotechnics company $96,000, Pusha T is named President of G.O.O.D. Music, and Kevin Gates pushes back “Islah” release date.
First up, rapper Lil Wayne is forced to pay a Pyrotechnics company $96,000. After announcing the sequel to the classic 2009 “No Ceilings” mixtape, Wezzy has landed in a bit more trouble. Apparently Wayne allegedly failed to pay for the fireworks that he purchased in 2013 and now the company is taking the matter to court. Wayne initially came to a settlement with the Pyrotechnics company a few months back but after failing to pay that agreed upon amount, Weezy is being forced to pay a whopping $96,000. The New Orleans rapper purchased 200 tracer comets, 92 silver gerbs, 2 white flashes with a bang, 36 propane tanks, and 30 lbs of exploding powder for his “America’s Most Wanted” tour which featured the likes of T.I. and Future according to TMZ.
Next up, rapper Pusha T is named the President of G.O.O.D. Music. Rapper Kanye West founded the Def Jam imprint G.O.O.D. Music back in 2004 which is home to artists such as Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, Mos Def, D’banj, John Legend and none other than Pusha T. In an interview with Billboard Magazine Pusha T revealed the good news as well as details about his upcoming album “King Push”. When questioned about his thought process during the four-month process of becoming the President of G.O.O.D. Push had this to say, “I always look at it as an opportunity to help the team and I think that artistically, me and Kanye have the same vision. He respects me as an artist, a really manicured artist. I’m not out here shooting in the dark, doing any and every thing. When it comes to albums and things like that, I have a very manicured process in which I get to take my time and I think he sorta respects that I get to take my time.” As for the upcoming album, fans shouldn’t fear that this new position will cause Pusha T to push “King Push” back any further.
In our final story, rapper Kevin Gates pushes back the release date for his upcoming album “Islah”. Originally slated for a December 11th release date, the 15 track project will now be released on January 29th instead for reasons unknown. The Baton Rouge rapper named this project after his daughter “Islah,” which means that this could be his most personal project to date. The name “Islah” is actually an Arabic word that could be translated as “reform” which means “to improve, to better, or to put something into a better position.” Although his fans won’t be jamming out to a new Gates’ album during Christmas break, they do have yet another track called “2 Phones” from the project to keep them busy.
