This week in entertainment news, actress Angelina Jolie files for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, Beyoncé pays tribute to late rapper Shawty Lo and the “Magnificent Seven” remake dominates the box office.
Worldwide, many people were shocked and heartbroken to learn that America’s favorite celebrity couple “Bradgelina” we’re calling it quits. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are now embroiled in what is being called the “divorce of the decade.” The pair were together for twelve years, married for two and have six children together ( Maddox 15, Pax 12, Zahara 11, Shiloh, 10 and twins, Knox and Vivienne 8). Jolie is seeking sole custody of the children so a bitter custody battle is expected to arise. Court documents cite the reasoning for the divorce as irreconcilable differences. Representatives for Jolie and Pitt state that the actors are “deeply saddened but are completely focused on the well-being of the children.”
On Monday night, Atlanta got into formation as Beyoncé came to town to perform as part of her world tour. Fans were able to snap pictures with some of Hip hop’s top rappers like Young Thug, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, the Migos and more. Beyoncé paused her show to pay respect to Atlanta’s “King of Bankhead, Shawty Lo” who tragically passed away on September 21 following a car accident. She performed a choreographed routine to his hit “Dey Know”.
Antoine Fuqua’s remake of “The Magnificent Seven” had one of the biggest box office openings of any Western. The remake of John Sturges’ 1960 Western stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Haley Bennett. The movie tells of a band of outlaws that protect the people of a small Mexican village. In addition, the movie now joins the ranks of successful cowboy films with impressive opening weekends such as Joel and Ethan Cohen’s 2010 “True Grit” remake which racked in $24.8 million, and Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 “Django Unchained,” which racked in $30.1 million.
